About the Captains

Capt. Scott Cannon

     I am a 26 years old United States Coast Guard licensed Captain. I have been fishing the rivers of Eastern Virginia and the Chesapeake Bay my entire life. For the last 10 years I have focused almost exclusively for trophy Blue Catfish on the James River. Over the last 5 years I have widened my focus to include trophy Flathead Catfish. I am the organizer and a participant of the James River Catfishing Club. I have tournament fished for the last 5 years with close to 12 wins in that time. I fish out of a 21' Sea Fox Center Console with a 135 hp Mercury which provides me with quick access to whichever part of the river is most productive at any given time.

Capt. Eric Gwinn

     I am a 33 year old United States Coast Guard licensed captain. I grew up fishing the small streams of West Virginia until 10 years ago when I moved to Virginia. I have fished for Trophy Blue Catfish for the Last 10 years on the James River. My largest cat to date is a 70 pound monster. I am also a organizer and participant of the James River Catfishing Club.
